Ricky Sanderford

Senior Pastor

Rev. Dr. Ricky Sanderford

Ricky was raised on a family ranch in Lampasas County, graduating from Lampasas High School in 1977. He graduated from The University of Texas in 1984 and received his Master's of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology at SMU in 1988.

“After twenty years of ministry in the church I felt I needed a freshening of thought and a retooling of my pastoral ministry if I wanted to remain an effective pastor and leader in the church for the next twenty years so I began to work on a doctor of ministry degree.” In 2011, Ricky received his doctorate from Wesley Theology Seminary in Washington, D.C, with a focus on missional evangelism and church leadership.

Ricky has been married to his high school sweetheart, Kay, for 42 years. They have have two daughters, one son, and seven grandchildren. “If I’d known how much fun grandchildren are I would have had them first!”

In his 32 years of pastoral ministry, Ricky has served in seven appointments throughout the Rio Texas Conference, in addition to various district and conference committees and boards.

Ricky enjoys many outdoor pursuits. “Growing up in the county has instilled in me a great appreciation for God’s bountiful and beautiful creation. From backpacking to the top of Texas to canoeing the Rio Grande River, we are surrounded by God’s handiwork. We are to be good stewards of all that God provides.”

“My goal in ministry is help people connect their lives to Jesus Christ. All that we do as people of God is in grateful response to what God has done for us in Jesus. We enjoy God’s blessings of love and life. We respond by sharing those blessings with others.”
